9234cm ² in the Expedit for Roborowski
Christian from Nienburg (pauleentenmann@yahoo.de) has send me these photos of his home-built enclosure Expedit. The enclosure consists of two floors, a scattering plane with 139cm x 38cm with a Tiefstreubox of 33.5 cm x 38 cm x 33.5 cm (WxDxH) and an additional layer of sand 104cm x 38cm . The total size is therefore nearly a square meter (9234cm ²) . The enclosure serves as a room divider.
located on the upper floor there is a Rodipet granite / house, pieces of cork, a willow bridge, a Rodipet granite / potions, stones, mangrove roots, moss, grass tubes and a grass nest and the main house and the 27cm WodentWheel wheel on the Tiefstreubox. In the sands days there is a Hugro birch hiding with a removable roof, pieces of cork, Stones, a second multi-chamber House of Rodipet and a second Rodipet granite / potions.
The stairway to the upper floor consists of a long willow bridge that is lined with cork pieces side to the hamster from the top of the stairs can not fall sideways.
On one side of the enclosure there are sliding doors. The front also narrow front was cut out and window used. The resulting voids in the thick, hollow side wall of the Expedit were sealed and protected the edges with aluminum profiles to nibble.
is the enclosure from the top and a narrow side on grille, through holes in the permanently installed viewing windows at the front narrow side and the side facing the sofa, and through holes in the doors. In addition, a perforated plate was in the guide rail of the sliding doors found on the lower floor to ensure air circulation. The enclosure is illuminated by "diode" LED strips from IKEA .
Christian from Nienburg, Germany sent me these photos of the Expedit hamster cage he hacked for his Roborovskii dwarf hamster "George". The upper level is 4'7" x 1'3" (139cm x 38cm) and the lower level with the sand area is 3'5" x 1'3" (104cm x 38cm) . The total floor space is almost 10ft square .
The upper level contains a "Granit+" house by Rodipet (which has a granite roof so the hamster has it nice and cool in the summer), cork, a willow bridge hideout, a water bottle, stones, mangrove roots, moss, grass tubes and nests. The main sleeping house is above the digging box and carries the 10" Transoniq WodentWheel .
The sand level contains a birch hideout with removable roof, cork, stones, another house and another water bottel. Access to the top level is via a long willow bridge to which Christian attached cork pieces as "railings" so the hamster can't fall from the upper part of the ramp.
The cage has sliding doors on one side. Additional plexi glass has been added to the back and the small front. Ventilation is via vent covers on the top and small back of the cage, several holes in the plexi glass and sliding doors and covers of additional wire mesh that has been put into the tracks of the sliding doors of the lower level. Lighting is realized with "diode" LED strips by IKEA .

Detolf Showcase for Robo Casimir
User Casimir19 from Forums holds her Grey-dwarf hamster Casimir in this IKEA "Detolf" showcase . The cabinet is 163cm x 43cm large and can be easily converted into a terrarium by tilting. Thus, the glass panel, which has previously formed the rear wall and now serves as a floor does not sag and must break the Showcase will be supported under the glass and the glass surface plane. This cabinet is a convenient method to a large terrarium pools come. (All photos courtesy of Casimir19.)
find the right part of the exhibit is an underground house, on which a 20cm RoboWheel (available for example. In Rodipet ) is a Heuberg, a birch tunnel and a grass nest. Perpendicular established pastures bridges separate from the large sandy area with chinchilla sand in the center of the cage. Grey-dwarf hamsters need as desert animals, a sand area, like here in the pen about 1 / 3 should represent the total area.
are in the sand area, a rodent root (Mangrove) and other birch tubes, tlw . filled with treats (available eg. as' Active Birky "at Rodipet ). To the right of the sandy area with other pastures bridges and board is disconnected.
is in the right part of the exhibit is a deep litter area with small animal litter mixture of hay, hay, and several cork tubes one more house. The depth of litter in the right pane is just under 30cm . Millet and maize are used as "food experience". serve as a candle holder cups "Glimma" IKEA . The enclosure also has a cover made of aviary wire (not shown), so can not escape the hamster. The back of the enclosure was (outside) embellished with aquarium film.
And that's the little people: Roborowski dwarf hamster Casimir.
User Casimir19 from the German Tierforum repurposed this "Detolf" IKEA glass-door cabinet as a terrarium for her Roborovskii dwarf hamster named Casimir. The cabinet is 64 1/8" x 16 3/4" (163cm x 43cm) . On the right hand side is a "subterranian" house, an 8" Transoniq RoboWheel , hay, a birch tunnel and a grass nest. The big sand area in the middle of the cage is fenced off with willow bridges. The sand area with Chinchilla sand contains mangrove root and further birch tunnels, some of them filled with hamster food. Roborovskii dwarf hamsters are desert animals and should have a big sand area as shown here (rule of thumb: about 1/3rd of the cage with sand).
On the right hand side is a deep bedding area with wood shavings mixed in with hay. The bedding depth in this area is up to 12" . The right hand side also contains several cork tunnels, millet, corn on the cob and another house. The food bowls are "Glimma" tealight holders from IKEA . The cage also has a lid with wire mesh so the hamster can not escape. The back of the cage has been decorated (from the outside) with aquarium background foil. A "Detolf" is a low priced method to realize a big hamster terrarium.

.. and that "gamers". Hell yeah ... this is not a sports blog! : D
Nowadays it has become so .. before reaching the 50's mid-life crisis I call it so personally "A third-of-your-life-has-already-gone-by" crisis.
The good thing is, even in something you are never alone, and while Grandpa warm memories of war, the fathers' generation to beat, dance halls and Co. recalls (.. Okay, maybe not mine), mine generation reflects on her youth through gambled nights before glowing monitors and TVs .... God, we must be a lucky generation.
Okay, we ponder NOT ONLY about it, life would still have been somewhat poor. But without doubt it was something.
How do I get it?
Well, on Golem.de came out on the occasion of the "StarCraft 2" release a similar report, which is quite amusing to me .... read (Reared for a little LAN party as before), including the knowledge of the authors, that old yet become, whether you have 1 Starcraft - times have difficulty weighing tons cathode-ray monitors and PC BigTower balanced housing across the city for days with little sleep and too much unhealthy food buddies at each other virtually hew the carrot ....
And today surrendered the troubled 30 + - body early, because if you ever find the time to start such a venture.
See here:
Oh yes ... some world-weariness came over me as well there when I read .... "Back when we were still young! "As you could afford something like it ... And yes, the monitor with the hauling I knew. Incredibly, when I see such a thing today, looks like the darkest stone age ... 21 inches or the like was a penalty for towing, if someone so ever owned an expensive Klopper!
But sometimes it helps, yes, to deceive themselves. With slogans such as "... now I do something eh no fun anymore .... This is what .... for young people it's also quieter and more demanding ... The first one then calms.
as I say only the following. other night I forced myself to the computer and formally a conveniently purchased game ("The Witcher." .. beautiful action-RPG) is loaded. Just so to see if I still have it fun.
When I auschaltete the computer broke, almost the morning and I could have gone almost to work. Despite circles under the eyes I had to grin. "It's still fun! Sooo old and calcified but then you're not ..."
men will simply never grow up.

Does Heb Accept Lone Star?
Embraced more robots!
telepresence robot are evident in Japan about a hip ... such as robotics in general.
telepresence robot are evident in Japan about a hip ... such as robotics in general.
(.., the Wikipedia link above, it is my opinion, poorly reflect what is currently in demand in the following ... because it's more about robots that a man with salutations / discussions are intended to replace physical.)
Why the Japanese are so on it, I leave out an open question. Meanwhile, however, can also populated technical Reasons play a role, the Japanese suffer more extreme as we are under an increasing aging population. Obviously, therefore, the use of robots is being considered in areas that would be taboo for us .. eg in the elderly and nursing. Under the motto, if you do not have enough young people who can heave grandpa out of bed, then stop the robot to do that .... and the integration of young foreigners in Japan you are doing well also heavier than ours.
Be that as it is: We, too, could be the theme for compelling reasons in the future to pay more.
But back to the telepresence robots. Is probably very trendy right now in Japan. On the one hand are to be replaced instead of the (already marionette smiling) receptionists in the office entrances / Information centers etc. increasingly more telepresence robots as they become ready for production. In principle, we welcome its probably a computer with speech recognition, only that can stop gesture with various body appendages and facial expressions .... (I wonder, how a general protection fault looks like .. I get to worry about?) Probably applies here: There are not soon enough young Japanese women who sit all day somewhere behind the desk, there must ran stop the machine.
I imagine the next step before that I then yes hinschicke also a telepresence robot from me to the telepresence robot on the information stand ... then the two talk to each other and everything is perfect.
are almost more sinister telepresence robot for an embodiment of the other person on the phone. So if not enough video telephony, you need a doll can carry the mimicry .. and can be angrabbeln.
what I mean?
Hat was in the video, right? As a poor and legless Made by Hiroshi Ishiguro, robotics because of their profession and her creator, hugs ...
That's .. hmm ... "Strange" it takes almost not quite everything. Given its Oscar-ready performance .. (That of Mr. Ishiguro now .. not that of the telepresence thingy .. ....... although that also.)
Welcome to the future!
This blog entry was posted by the way, my blog telepresence robot. I am indispensable.
