Hamster Forum has converted their former reptile terrarium to preserve for their hamster-Dame Bella and
presented here. The enclosure itself has a footprint of 135cm x 50cm

190cm . The terrarium is designed very carefully and elaborately.

User Mimi01 from the German Forum hamster adapted her old reptile terrarium for her dwarf hamster Bella. The terrarium alone measures 4'5" x 1'8" (135cm x 50cm) , the total length including the extension is 6'3" (190cm) . Only natural materials were used: poplar plywood, cork, wooden dowels, tounge depressors (craft sticks), grass nests and tunnels, roots, hemp mats, coconut hideouts, and hay. The bedding depth is about 8" (20cm) . The wheel is a Transoniq Wodent Wheel. Mimi01 changes the cage furniture every once in a while. The little "hanging garden" has a plexi glass window in the front and a wire "window" on the side so the hamster can not fall from a height. The backplane was made using traditional terrarium technique: a styrofoam base coated with tile adhesive and sealed with epoxy. This is hard enough to be unchewable by hamsters. The multi-chamber house is made from poplar plywood and has a removable roof for easy checking of the nest. The front was decorated with cork crumbs (available as bedding for tortoises in the terra section of the pet shop) which were glued on with Ponal brand water-based white glue. At night the terrarium can be lighted with a so-called "moonlight" (LED variant) to watch the hamster without disturbing her.
