In January I told you Yoshis DIY enclosure for their Djungarian hamster Callum presented here. As Callum has been very buddelfreudig has Userin Yoshi (from the Hamster Forum can be and hamster Board known) decided to extend the same self-made, so sprinkled higher.
this, a new DIY built (thread in the hamster Forum here all images courtesy of Yoshi) , who for the same area ( 180cm x 55cm ) previously 38cm now 52cm height . Thus increased to about 30cm now the depth of litter by more than 10cm. The Plexiglas plates of the fronts were reused and built the higher scattering edge with laminated board.

This is of aluminum L-profiles (1) is held, which were glued with aquarium silicone into the enclosure. In the picture you can see even the little Callum (3), especially in a cork tubes disappear (note the size ratio between enclosure half and dwarf hamsters!).

English Summary
Yoshi improves the DIY cage for Callum
User Yoshi from the German Hamsterforum has improved her DIY cage ( presented here on this blog in January) for her dwarf hamster Callum. Callum loves to dig his own burrows so the new cage now has a height of 20 1/2" (52cm) instead of 15" (38cm). Now he can ejoy a bedding depth of about 1ft (~30cm) . The ground floor size has stayed the same with 5'11" by 1'10" (180cm x 55cm) .
The cage was built from veneered particle board with a front of plexi glass (the plexi glass was re-used from the old DIY cage). The left side contains a wooden house custom made from poplar plywood which carries the sand bath, an 8" (20cm) RoboWheel by Transoniq , several cork tunnels, hay and dried leaves, two stones, the water bottle and a small IKEA "Charmör" bowl.
The right side of the cage contains a second 8" (20cm) wheel by Karlie Wonderland, hay, cork, a grass nest and several types of "play food" (millet, flax, etc). An aluminum L-beam (pic 8, (1)) holds a thin plexi glass plate (pic 8, (2)) that protects the custom made background picture from the hamster. Note the size of dwarf hamster Callum (3) in the pic compared to the size of the cage.
Callum seems to love it and can now dig in about a foot (30cm) of bedding depth. A hamster's real life!
